Man City set to make first bid and plans to complete two signings in ‘upcoming days’

Manchester City appear to be all set to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window.

The 2024-25 season does not count as a term of major success for Pep Guardiola and Man City, who were unable to bring home some silverware and had to conclude the campaign with a third-rank finish in the Premier League.

Now, ahead of the Club World Cup, Man City have been heavily linked with several top names as potential transfer targets.

One persisting name on Guardiola’s reported transfer target for a while has been Rayan Cherki. The 21-year-old is currently contracted with Olympique Lyonnais until the summer of 2026.

Cherki’s performances for the Ligue 1 side have tuned heads, making him an extremely eligible young talent for the summer transfer window. Earlier, it was reported that Man City have made contact to enquire about the financial clauses to potentially bring him to Etihad.

What are Man City’s plans to potentially sign Rayan Cherki?

Manc City are set to present their opening bid for Cherki in the upcoming week, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Cherki has scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists in 44 appearances across competitions in the past season. It remains to be seen if Lyon are ready to let go of one of their most promising academy graduates.

The aforementioned report also suggested that along with reaching a potential deal with Cherki, Man City are also planning on confirming the signing of AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders in the upcoming days.

It remains to be seen which new names will be added to Guardiola’s squad in the Club World Cup as well as the next season.
