Man City prepare £52m move for Man Utd midfield target

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are constantly looking to better their squad, with a multitude of talent already on their books.

Erling Haaland is having a monster season, but Guardiola wants to strengthen his squad even more.

Midfielder Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move away, and Rodri’s future also looks uncertain.

Guardiola will be keen to find a midfielder to replace the veteran Silva, and the City manager is reportedly looking into signing a midfielder who their rivals Manchester United have on their wishlist.

Which midfielder are the Mancunian clubs set to fight for?

According to Fichajes, both Manchester sides, as well as Tottenham, are interested in Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand, and Guardiola is weighing up a £52m move for the Swedish midfielder.

United have been searching for the right midfielder, and Ruben Amorim has a good relationship with Hjulmand, having signed him at Sporting in 2023.

Tottenham’s Thomas Frank is unhappy with his current midfield options, which has brought Hjulmand onto the London club’s radar.

Hjulmand is a strong holding midfielder, but he can be a key player in the attack, as well, which has drawn so much interest from top European clubs.

Guardiola is prepared to splash big on the Swedish international, and Sporting might not be able to resist the bidding war that could come out of the interest for Hjulmand.
