Man City on ‘red alert’ as Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona contract talks remain blocked

Lamine Yamal has established himself as the brightest La Masia graduate in the current Barcelona squad.

The 17-year-old has been in sensational form for club and country since the start of the campaign, but he is also a potential transfer target for rival clubs across Europe, as the summer window approaches.

Lamine Yamal made his first team debut for Barcelona back in 2023 and has since won the adoration of Barcelona fans with his silky skills and match-winning moments.

The Spain international has regularly stated his loyalty and dedication to his boyhood club. He has also mentioned his intention to continue at the Camp Nou beyond his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2026.

While his determination to continue with Barca remains strong, uncertainty on his future with the club have also surfaced, as finances continue to be an issue. The winger has reportedly conveyed to his agent Jorge Mendes his wish to sign a new contract soon, according to Mundo Deportivo.

This potential new deal is expected to keep Lamine Yamal at the club until at least 2030, alongside a major salary boost, to bring him in line with the club’s top earners.

However, as Barcelona lurch from one financial crisis to another, Manchester City remain poised to swoop in – if the chance opens up.

Can Man City bring Lamine Yamal to the Etihad Stadium

City remain a potent force in the transfer market, and Pep Guardiola bolstered the Premier League giants in January, with deals for Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez.

MD indicates City have a growing interest in acquiring Lamine Yamal amid those uncertainties at Barcelona.

La Liga have recently confirmed the Spanish giants are still in breach of the league’s financial fair play regulations and that will only boost City’s hopes of testing their resolve over their No.19.

Lamine Yamal has netted 13 goals and provided 19 assists in 42 appearances across competitions for Barcelona this season.
