Manchester City have landed in the United States for the upcoming Club World Cup, starting June 14.
After an underwhelming run in the 2024-25 season ending in a third-place Premier League finish and no major trophy, Man City will be trying to return to their winning ways in the upcoming competition.
The last campaign was an injury-riddled one for City as well, which significantly affected their performances, having several key players sidelined. One such name was centre-back, John Stones.
Stones missed a total of 33 games for the club and country in the season due to injuries. The Englishman has not been on the pitch since February after he picked up a knock in City’s elimination from the Champions League play-off.
Will Man City’s John Stones play in the Club World Cup?
Despite his then-existing injury, Stones was included in Man City’s squad for the Club World Cup. And now, it appears that the defender returned to full training with the team in their first session in the United States, according to Manchester Evening News.
This is good news for the Cityzens as Stones is now expected to feature in the Club World Cup matches. His inclusion also takes away some doubts over his future at the Etihad as his fitness struggles have led to reports suggesting a potential move away from City.
