Man City captain not on same terms with Pep Guardiola over summer transfer plans

Manchester City have had a busy summer between transfers and the Club World Cup. Pep Guardiola has already brought in several reinforcements, and he could add a few more names to the list.

Departures are also expected, with Kevin De Bruyne leaving for Napoli and other players linked with moves, as well.

Guardiola would prefer to trim his squad, but his decision does not seem to be backed by his captain.

What did Bernardo Silva say about Man City’s transfer plans?

Speaking after Man City’s thumping win over Juventus, Silva discussed the squad’s depth and attributed their success to the quality and number of players the team has.

Silva said, “We have a big squad. Especially for this tournament and hopefully the season, and the impact these players have had, not just this game but in other games, has been massive.

“Once again today the guys that came from the bench helped a lot, and you need everyone to be successful.”

Silva has enjoyed the depth of City’s squad for the Club World Cup, and he has pointed out the success that the club has had from the bench. The win over Juventus saw goals from substitutes Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

Guardiola, on the other hand, would like to lessen the number of players that City have. The manager has been vocal about his displeasure with the large squad, and he’ll be looking to offload several players in the coming month before the Premier League season starts.

Some notable players are likely to leave City this summer, including Jack Grealish. Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips are also looking to secure exits from the club, but nothing has been made official yet.

James McAtee could try for an exit to secure more playing time, and he was a notable omission from the Club World Cup squad, opting to play for England’s Under-21s instead.
