The ongoing season has been one of the toughest for Man City over the past years.
Cityzens had to deal with deteriorating points in the Premier League, followed by Champions League elimination in February amid the squad’s injury woes throughout the season.
Man City fans were dealt another blow last month after club legend Kevin De Bruyne announced his departure from the Etihad at the end of the ongoing campaign.
De Bruyne joined Man City from VfL Wolfsburg in 2015 and over almost a decade, he has been key in the club’s success. Later it was also revealed that the club authorities decided to not extend his contract, which was set to expire this summer, any further.
With the midfield maestro’s journey at the Etihad nearing its end, questions surfaced about De Bruyne’s farewell match. Now, Man City has released a statement confirming the date.

When is Kevin De Bruyne’s farewell match with Man City?
De Bruyne’s contribution to Man City and their achievements is one for the history books. As the Belgian star takes his leave from the Etihad as one of the greatest midfielders of the club and the Premier League, his farewell is expected to be a grand one.
Recently, several reports also suggested that De Bruyne will not be featuring in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup with his contract expiring at the end of June, which is midway through the tournament. The 33-year-old is reportedly attempting to avoid potential injuries during that time as it can affect his search for a new club.
Man City have announced that their last home game of the season, which is against Bournemouth on May 20, will be De Bruyne’s farewell match. The club statement mentioned that there would be a post-match presentation involving the star and his last addressal to the Cityzens.
“It means the Bournemouth fixture will be an emotionally charged affair and provide the City fans – and players and staff – with the opportunity to not only say farewell but also express their gratitude for all that King Kev has done for the Club since joining us in the summer of 2015,” the statement read.
“There will be a post-match presentation with Kevin and fans will have the chance to hear from him one final time as he addresses the crowd inside the Etihad.”
Man City’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth later this month is expected to be a deeply emotional one as De Bruyne will be bidding his goodbye to the clubs and fans, drawing the curtains to a phenomenal journey of 10 years.
