The Detroit Tigers have held one of the best records in the entire major leagues for a majority of the season, becoming the first team to 50 wins and are currently tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the league’s best record at 54-32.
A key reason for that dominance? Center fielder Riley Greene.
And the fans that are responsible for voting in the starters for the MLB All-Star Game couldn’t agree more, voting Greene to his second straight All-Star appearance and first start, starting alongside teammate Javier Baez and leading vote receiver for the AL, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge.
The outfielder is already nearing his total from last year in runs batted in with 63 right before the All-Star break, notching 74 through all of last year.
Through the 83 games he has been in this season, Greene has boasted a .296 batting average with 19 home runs and the aforementioned 63 runs batted in.
Also joining the two Tigers as starters in second baseman Gleyber Torres, being named to his first All-Star Game since 2019 when he was still with Judge and the Yankees.
Pitchers have yet to be named to the teams, but it should be pretty safe to assume that Tarik Skubal will make his second consecutive All-Star Game appearance, as it should even be a neck-and-neck race between himself and Yankees starter Max Fried for the starting nod in Atlanta.
The Tigers currently hold a monstrous 12.5 game lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central standings, and the reserves for the Game are yet to be revealed, giving plenty of time for dark horses like Kerry Carpenter or Cole Keith to find their way into the Midsummer Classic.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place from Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15.
