The Orlando Magic started the season as one of the best stories in the NBA. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner looked like stars to build the future around. Their defense looked like something they could potentially make a deep playoff run with. Then injuries derailed everything. Now, the Orlando Magic news and rumors are centered around getting the team an offensive-minded star to help move them into a brighter future.
One recent Magic trade rumor has the team landing a star point guard to supercharge their offense.
This Magic trade rumor by Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report has the Magic sending a core starter, young prospects, and draft capital for a three-time All-Star.
Bailey proposes, “Trae Young for Jalen Suggs, Anthony Black, Jett Howard and a top 10-protected 2027 first-round pick,” as a trade that could benefit both the Magic and Atlanta Hawks.
This Magic trade proposal is interesting for a few different reasons. The Magic would certainly be giving up some of their defensive identity by losing Suggs, but getting Trae Young would vastly improve their offense and three-point shooting.
“Dreadful three-point shooting doomed Orlando to a bottom-five offense in 2024-25,” said Bailey.

Getting Trae Young certainly would solve that problem.
Young certainly would hurt the Magic defense, but they have a roster that is deep with defensive weapons that could pick up the slack for him on that end.
Although this trade might be a long shot, keep an eye on the Orlando Magic news and rumors this summer. If they want to press the accelerator on their young roster, making a bold trade for a player like Trae Young could be a very intriguing option. In fact, it could be necessary for an organization that hasn’t made it out of the first round of the playoffs since 2010.
