It has been a solid season thus far for the Orlando Magic, but they may still look to upgrade their roster ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
The Magic were the surprise team in the NBA last season after they finished their rebuild and clinched a playoff spot. This season, they have once again been great despite their two star players dealing with injuries.
Both Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner missed an extended period of time with a torn right oblique, but the Magic were still able to remain competitive. Banchero and Wagner have returned from injury and Orlando currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference standings with a 24-24 record.
While the Magic have been able to stay afloat in the East playoff race, they may look to add another star to their roster ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. One player that recently became available for trade is De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings, and the Magic could show interest in acquiring him.
In a possible trade, Orlando could send Jonathan Isaac, Cole Anthony, Gary Harris and draft capital to Sacramento for Fox and Kevin Huerter. With the Kings looking to receive win-now players in a trade involving Fox, that is exactly what they would get in this deal.
For the Magic, adding Fox would fill a huge hole in their lineup. Orlando has struggled to find a solid starting point guard to pair next to Jalen Suggs in the backcourt, but Fox would fit right in.
Fox is a great scorer, playmaker and defender that would help elevate the Magic into a championship contender. Their star duo of Banchero and Wagner have been relied on too much to be the main source of offence for the team, but adding Fox would take the pressure off them.
Orlando is also a great defensive team, which would become even better with Fox on their roster. The 27-year-old has been great at forcing turnovers throughout his career and led the NBA in steals per game last season.
By making this trade, the Magic would add another superstar to their roster which could help them become a championship contender this season.
