This couldn’t have been an easy season for the players who spent the whole year with the Dallas Mavericks.
Luka Doncic dealt with injuries, then was traded in a controversial move for Anthony Davis. The Mavs went from the NBA Finals in 2024 to missing the playoffs in 2025.
Recently, one of Doncic’s long-time teammates, Naji Marshall, shared his thoughts on Luka.
“Luka is just the chillest guy ever bro,” Marshall said on a podcast appearance. “You just feel like his best friend from day 1. He’s just a great dude. Never mad, just always happy. And just a Hall of Fame flamethrower when it comes to basketball.”

Kind of sounds like the kind of player you’d want to keep on your team.
Alas, Mavs fans won’t ever be getting Doncic back.
Instead, they’re stuck with an aging, oft-injured core while Luka can make the bright lights of Los Angeles shine even brighter.
The Mavericks lucked out by earning the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft through the lottery. Let’s see if they’re smart enough to just take the clear and obvious choice of Cooper Flagg, or if they’ll risk another trade error.
