When Luka Dončić got traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers, the whole NBA world was shocked.
Dončić is a top talent in the league, and it seemed crazy for the Mavericks to part ways with him so early into his career.
So crazy, in fact, that even Dončić himself didn’t know what to make of the trade, which is exactly what he told the Wall Street Journal
“I didn’t know how to react, how to act, what to say. It was a lot of shock,” Doncic said Tuesday.
“I felt Dallas was my home. I had many friends there. The fans always supported me. I didn’t want to upset Dallas fans, and I didn’t want to upset Laker fans.”
Fans around the world, players in the league, and even Luka himself weren’t expecting this move to happen, which is why it came as such a shock.

Luka was supposed to be the cornerstone of the franchise and pick up where Maverick legend Dirk Nowitzki left off.
He was the brightest spot on their team, and maybe in the league, and at just 25 years old, averaging over 28 points per game, he was traded for Anthony Davis.
Of course, every player has a special connection to the team that takes a chance on them out of the draft, but no more than an international player like Luka.
The swap of him and Anthony Davis immediately became historic, and may be the biggest trade in NBA history.
