Paris Saint-Germain secured a stunning 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Club World Cup on July 9.
With this win, PSG brought an end to Real Madrid’s journey in the competition and earned themselves a spot in the final.
Speaking after the clash, PSG head coach Luis Enrique heaped praise on his team and said,
“And now we are just one game away from building PSG’s history, and winning all the trophies we have participated in this season. It means a lot for us, for our fans and it is a pleasure to work at this club,” as per The Guardian.
“We have scored 100-plus goals and we let in very few. These players are exceptional. The insuperable play of my players and their generosity, the way they give everything at the service of the team.”
Enrique was also asked to share his thoughts on Real Madrid’s performance against PSG in the semifinal.

What did PSG boss Luis Enrique say about Real Madrid?
Following PSG’s advancement to the Club World Cup final, Enrique was asked if the result of the match was a fair reflection of the gap between the two teams.
To which the Spanish manager respectfully responded that he believes that Real Madrid’s newly appointed head coach Xabi Alonso ‘needs time.’
Alonso took charge of Real Madrid in May following the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti and has led the Los Blancos squad for only six matches so far.
Enrique believes that Real Madrid and PSG’s situations are ‘incomparable’ at this point, declining to evaluate Alonso and his squad this early, and told Marca,
“I think Xabi needs time, to work, to have a preseason. I don’t know if this 4-0 result reflects the difference between the two, but these are incomparable situations with his team, which is just starting out. I’ve been working on this project for two years now. It doesn’t matter whether it reflects that or not,” as per Football Espana.
“That was the difference in the score, which is the most important thing. Xabi has played six matches. He needs the necessary time to have a preseason. There’s no need to evaluate it in any way because he hasn’t had time to do anything. Totally different and incomparable situations.”
Enrique & Co. are now headed to face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final on July 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
