Liverpool have gone from strength to strength as they aim to defend their Premier League crown next season and launch a challenge in the UEFA Champions League.
The Reds have made some decisive signings in key areas this summer, and they aren’t done yet.
Th current focus for Arne Slot is a new defender with Crystal Palace captain and England international Marc Guehi rumoured to be the No.1 target amid uncertainty over Ibrahima Konate’s contract extension.
Recent updates from transfer insider Ben Jacobs suggest Liverpool will only push for the signing if Palace drop their asking price, as Liverpool will not pay Palace’s demand of £50m [$68.6m].
Liverpool have invested heavily in three signings already in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, with all additional signings balanced against exits.
To try and balance the books, Liverpool have already offloaded Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah to Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.

They will continue to sell players before making more deals, but they will not let Palace dictate terms in their pursuit of the 24-year-old defender.
Where will Marc Guehi end up this summer?
Guehi started his career at the Chelsea academy, and featured for the senior team in a couple of matches, before a loan spell at Swansea City.
His impressive form at Swansea saw Crystal Palace make a move for him back in 2021and his stock has continued to rise before making his international debut for England in 2022.
He is now a mainstay in the Palace and England backlines with Thomas Tuchel counting on him as first-choice in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.
Guehi’s current contract with Palace runs until 2026, and they only have this summer to cash in on him or sign an extension, with the latter unlikely right now.
The 24-year-old is reportedly open to moving away from Selhurst Park, but he wants to be a starter anywhere he moves, and that will direct his next move.
At this point, it remains to be seen if Slot can give Guehi that assurance, in the presence of Konate and Virgil van Dijk.
Alongside the push for Guehi, Liverpool are also looking at longer-term defensive options, and a versatile player within the 18-22 years old age bracket.
The Reds have fired admiring glances at Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, alongside several other Premier League clubs, based on his impressive rise in Amsterdam.
