Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher drops dream transfer hint after receiving special honour

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher knows a thing or two about loyalty. After all, he spent 17 seasons defending the Reds’ badge without ever switching clubs.

On Tuesday night, that devotion earned him the prestigious One Club Man award from Athletic Club in Bilbao, a prize celebrating players who stay faithful to a single team.

But while the honor was all about staying put, Carragher couldn’t help but spark transfer talk.

The former center-back was celebrated at San Mamés ahead of Athletic’s 1-1 draw with Girona.

Accepting the award, he said, “It is an honor to be here this afternoon. It means a lot to me. The biggest achievement of my career was to have played 17 years at the club of my life.”

When asked by DAZN which Athletic player he would take to Liverpool, Carragher wasted no time. “Yes. I would take the one everyone wants to take. Nico [Williams] is a fantastic player,” he admitted (quotes via Sportwitness).

Carragher even recalled the winger’s heroics for Spain, adding, “He scored the first goal against England in the Euro final.

Spain deserved to win. I know he is your player and he has renewed for 10 years, but I would like to see him in a Liverpool shirt. I know it is not going to happen, but I would like to dream about it.”

Williams, 23, recently ended transfer rumors by signing a mammoth 10-year deal with Athletic Club.

Both Barcelona and Arsenal reportedly made approaches before the extension, and Liverpool have also been linked in the past.

For now, the flying winger appears set to stay in Bilbao, badge kisses and all.

Carragher may be living in retirement, but his “dream signing” comment will keep Liverpool fans debating possibilities. After all, football is a game where even long shots sometimes hit the top corner.
