Liverpool manager Arne Slot didn’t hold back after his team’s surprising 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Anfield.
The Premier League leaders faced a resilient Red Devils side, who executed a defensive game plan to leave with a crucial point.
United struck first in the second half through Lisandro Martinez, but Liverpool hit back with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
Just when it seemed the Reds would claim victory, Amad Diallo equalized late to secure a draw for Manchester United.
Slot was visibly frustrated after the match, voicing his disappointment with United’s approach. Speaking to reporters, he hinted at his displeasure with their defensive “low-block” strategy and reliance on “long balls.”

What Arne Slot said on Man United’s style of play against Liverpool
“It feels like two points dropped for us,” Slot said. He highlighted the missed opportunities on both sides, including a late chance by Harry Maguire for United and a similar miss by Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool.
Comparing United’s tactics to Nottingham Forest’s earlier this season, Slot remarked, “Both teams defended deep with a lot of bodies. They didn’t risk building up and just played long balls. It’s not easy to play against that style, especially when their defenders are so strong.”
Despite his criticism, Slot acknowledged the quality of United’s defensive effort, which kept Liverpool at bay for much of the game.

What’s next for Liverpool and Man United?
The Reds will need to regroup quickly as they prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Slot will hope for a more open contest as Liverpool chase silverware this season.
Meanwhile, Man Utd will be up against another title rivals Arsenal in the 3rd round of FA Cup this Sunday.
