Lionel Messi’s future at Inter Miami has been the talk of the town as the Argentine is yet to sign a new contract with the Herons.
Messi’s current contract with Inter Miami is set to expire by the end of this year, and while several reports have suggested that he will be renewing soon, no announcement of a new deal has been in sight so far.
Back in April, Inter Miami co-owner, Jorge Mas told fans that Messi is set to sign a new contract soon that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
Uncertainties about his stay at the Major League Soccer club got worse with Messi’s comment following their loss against Orlando City on May 18. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner said that he ‘does not know anything when asked about his future at Inter Miami.
Lately, Inter Miami’s form has also taken a hit, managing only one win in their last five league matches.
Amid this situation, former Birmingham and Blackburn star David Dunn spoke about how Messi has never been a part of English football.

What did David Dunn say about Lionel Messi potentially joining English football?
Dunn told GOAL while speaking in association with Wildz Casino that ‘it’s just a shame’ that Messi has not played in the Premier League in his illustrious career.
“Around the world, the Premier League is the best league. Everybody wants to be a part of that. It doesn’t surprise me that the top names want to be involved in English football. It’s just a shame Lionel Messi – who I think is the best player – hasn’t done it yet. But, who knows, he might fancy coming over and playing a few games. Maybe the climate doesn’t help!” said Dunn.
It remains to be seen if Messi will continue his journey in the MLS with the Herons or decide to embark on a new one next year.
