Since joining Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, Lionel Messi has completely changed the landscape of Major League Soccer.
He helped the Herons hoist their first-ever trophy, winning the Leagues Cup in his maiden tournament. Messi followed that up with the Supporters’ Shield in 2024 awarded to the league’s regular season champions.
The goal in 2025 is to take the next step and win the league title, having fallen well short last year as the club was upset in the second round of the playoffs by Atlanta United. Set to turn 38 in June, Messi will hope to keep himself fit and available across a long campaign as the club competes on multiple fronts, including in the 2025 Club World Cup this summer.

When is Lionel Messi’s next Inter Miami match?
Inter Miami were slated to open the 2025 MLS season schedule with an afternoon match on Saturday, February 22.
However, after their CONCACAF Champions Cup game against Sporting KC was pushed back a day in midweek due to inclement weather, kickoff for Saturday’s game was moved later to accommodate the shorter time between matches.
Inter will now face New York City at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

Inter Miami in 2025 Club World Cup
Inter Miami are set to be one of two MLS clubs to compete in the summer’s 2025 Club World Cup.
The Herons were drawn into a four-team group alongside CONMEBOL’s reigning champions Palmeiras, Portuguese giants Porto, and Egyptian side Al Ahly.
They will open the competition as the host nation nominee, contesting the tournament’s first match on June 14. Should Inter Miami reach the knockout stage, they would face a team from Group B in the Round of 16, which is likely to be either Paris Saint-Germain or Atletico Madrid unless one of those sides is upset by Botafogo or Seattle Sounders.
If the Herons progress through the group stage and into the knockout round, Inter Miami will likely see a number of league games rearranged to accommodate.
