“Like Messi & Ronaldo”- Lewandowski on why Lamine Yamal is unique

Robert Lewandowski is one of FC Barcelona’s most important players heading into the new season, but another player who is valued highly by the fans is Lamine Yamal. Both players have become great friends, and their chemistry on the pitch keeps improving.

Ahead of the new season, Lewandowski and Yamal will be part of an exciting trio along with Raphinha in the upcoming season. In an interview with ESPN FC reporter Martin Ainstein, Lewandowski was asked about Lamine Yamal’s performances over the last year.

Yamal has been praised as one of the best players in the world despite being 18 years old. In the interview, Lewandowski praised Yamal and believes the player is one of a kind. Lewandowski states that Yamal’s performance is rare at such a young age.

Lewandowski’s Special Praise on Lamine Yamal

When asked if other clubs like Real Madrid are after young players like Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski quickly assures that there will not be another Yamal around.

He mentions Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when praising Yamal, as all three players are unique in their own way.

Robert Lewandowski: “Of course, there’s pressure from the fans: ‘You have to find our Lamine Yamal.’ But you can’t, because he isn’t born in every city and every year. It’s something that happens once every 10 years. It’s like Messi and Ronaldo, you can’t find anything like them because they are unique.”

In an interview with BBC Sport, Lewandowski reveals how shocked he was when he first saw Yamal train when he joined the first team. The first time Yamal trained with Barcelona’s first team was when he was 15 years old.

Robert Lewandowski: “I saw so many good, amazing young players that after a few training sessions I said, ‘Oh, he’s really good.’ But this guy, that was the first time in my life that I saw direct after 15 minutes he has something special… I didn’t believe it because I didn’t see these kinds of players in this age.”
