Lewandowski’s agent confirms Barcelona star rejecting huge Saudi offer

FC Barcelona will count on Robert Lewandowski for another season since his arrival in the summer of 2022. He had his best season to date in the 2024-25 campaign after scoring 42 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions.

The Polish striker will play his fourth season with Barcelona starting this weekend, but Lewandowski was chased by Saudi Arabian clubs last season. Lewandowski is 36 years old and will turn 37 next week, but he manages to be a crucial player for Barcelona.

Barcelona will soon have to move on in the near future as Lewandowski gets older, but they had the opportunity to move on last season. Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, revealed the lucrative offer Saudi Arabia offered the striker, but it was rejected.

The contract offered included a salary worth more than $100 million per season, but no specific Saudi Arabian club was mentioned. Lewandowski was linked to the top clubs from the Saudi Pro League like Al Hilal.

Pini Zahavi Reveals Lucrative Offer Lewandowski Rejected

In an interview with Fakt, Zahavi revealed why Lewandowski rejected a lucrative deal to join the Saudi Pro League last year. Zahavi revealed that Lewandowski was ambitious in winning important trophies with Barcelona instead of going to Saudi Arabia.

Pini Zahavi: “In Saudi, they offered Lewandowski more than €100m per season — but he preferred to fight for La Liga and the Champions League at Barcelona. And he almost achieved both goals.”

The agent also comments on Saudi Arabia’s strategy in signing star players from top European clubs. Zahavi critiques the Saudi Pro League’s approach in bringing loads of foreigners to the league and revealed that the league was never in Lewandowski’s interest.

Pini Zahavi: “Barça is where he feels most comfortable. Also, Saudi clubs are overflowing with players and don’t know what to do with them. There are limits for foreigners, which restricts their options. But Robert didn’t want to play there anyway.”
