Latest Jalen Ramsey update reveals Steelers’ chances of trading for Dolphins star

If you were one of the Pittsburgh Steelers fans hoping to see the team trade for Jalen Ramsey, the good news is the Steelers have at least inquired about him with the Miami Dolphins.

The bad news is, it doesn’t look like Ramsey will be going to Pittsburgh.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers have indeed “checked in” on the veteran cornerback, who is on the trade block. However, Schefter does not see the Steelers acquiring the seven-time Pro Bowler.

“I think Pittsburgh checked in,” Schefter said on ESPN Radio. “I’m not so sure that Pittsburgh’s gonna be the destination. In fact, if I had to guess, I would say Pittsburgh would not be the likely destination.”

Schefter believes Ramsey could end up with the Los Angeles Chargers or Rams in a trade, something he has said before after revealing Ramsey likely wants to be on the west coast.

“I think when you’re trying to figure out a home for Jalen Ramsey, two teams that make sense and we’ll see how it plays out, would both be in Los Angeles, be it the Chargers or the Rams. I know people have brought up the Rams, and the Rams just continue to float around out there. It would have to work financially for both sides,” Schefter said.

The financial part of a Ramsey trade pertains to his contract, which has over $20 million in guaranteed money on it that the acquiring team will have to take into account.

It remains to be seen how much Miami will pick up, if anything at all, but the less they take on, the harder it’s going to be to trade Ramsey.

The Steelers are solid on the boundary at cornerback with Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay, but there is a question mark in the slot, where Ramsey does have experience playing.

The simple fact that the Steelers checked in on Ramsey shows general manager Omar Khan is at least considering adding another cornerback, as he should.
