Just over a week ago, the Packers made a major decision regarding Jaire Alexander — a player who, when healthy, has been a critical part of the Green Bay defense’s success. Throughout the offseason, Alexander and the Packers had been working together to reach a contract agreement that would benefit both sides.
“On the contract front, the Packers could want a revised deal that allows Alexander — who has missed at least 10 games in three of the last four seasons — to earn his full salary if he’s healthy and available in 2025 but protects the team in case the injuries continue,” Packers Wire’s Zach Kruse wrote.
Even without a finalized contract and despite skipping voluntary workouts, Alexander remained in regular contact with the organization.
“Alexander has not reported to the Packers’ voluntary workouts, which would raise red flags over his status with the team. While speculation has run wild, passing game coordinator Derrick Ansley sang a different tune, telling ESPN’s Rob Demovsky that he’s been in contact with Alexander every day while skipping the offseason workouts,” Dairyland Express’ Chris Schad reported.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst eventually made the difficult decision to part ways with the veteran cornerback — a move that surely wasn’t taken lightly. But as the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly eyeing Alexander, and it’s significant that quarterback Lamar Jackson is leading the charge to bring him in.
“Go get him, Eric,” Jackson said, referring to Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta. “I love all of our corners, don’t get me wrong. But go get him Eric.”

Adding Alexander would bolster an already formidable Ravens defense and provide valuable depth. Baltimore is a strong contender in the NFL playoff race and remains in a solid position for a Super Bowl run. If Alexander joins the roster, their odds only improve. Jackson has made his request loud and clear — now it’s up to DeCosta to make the move.
