It’s not something that many people are talking about, but the G League Draft took place this weekend.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, had the No. 1 overall pick.
They used it on Dillon Jones.
Players eligible for the draft are guys who were signed to a G League contract but don’t already have rights controlled by a team.

Jones was originally the No. 26 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder
He played his college basketball at Weber State, known most for being the former launching pad of Damian Lillard.
Jones played in 54 games as a rookie for the eventual NBA champs.
He averaged 10.2 NBA minutes per game as a rookie with 2.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

The Thunder got rid of Jones in June, trading him to the Washington Wizards to clear a roster spot.
The Wizards waived Jones before the NBA season got underway.
Jones could still sign with an NBA team, but for now, he’s not affiliated with any squad in the big leagues, so this will be a chance for Jones to impress teams and try to make it back to the NBA.
For now, he just knows he’s going to South Bay. After that, it’s up to Jones to make a spot for himself.
