Lakers predicted to acquire elite sharpshooting big man to help James, Dončić capture ring

The Los Angeles Lakers had themselves a productive offseason and signed their new center Deandre Ayton.

Ayton is 27 years old and is the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

He adds plenty of offensive advantages to the Lake Show, but may lack on the defensive side of the ball.

This is where the Lakers could look to make another splash and trade for another center who holds a lot more defensive value in a hypothetical proposed by Clutch Points’ Rohan Brahmbhatt.

“While Los Angeles has rotated through a carousel of backup bigs in recent years, none have provided the combination of rim protection, rebounding, and spacing that Myles Turner could bring,” Brahmbhatt said Monday.

“Long linked to the Lakers in trade rumors, Turner’s name resurfaces every season, and for good reason: he’s the archetype of the ideal Ayton partner.”

Myles Turner had been an Indiana Pacer for the last decade and signed a four-year, $107 million extension in July with his new team, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Obviously, it is unlikely they trade him away after they just acquired him, but the surrounding roster of the Bucks isn’t amazing, and they could choose to head into rebuild mode.

Turner averages 2.2 blocks per game in his career, making him an all-time rim protector.

On top of that, he modernized what it means to be a stretch-five with his willingness to spread the floor and his career 36% from three.

Turner would be the perfect candidate to put alongside Luka Dončić and LeBron James to help them compete for a championship.
