Lakers may pair $109 million father-son duo with 18-year-old Klutch Sports signee in 2026

While the Los Angeles Lakers likely aren’t pondering what moves to make during the 2026 offseason, it’s always fun to speculate about what the foreseeable future could hold.

Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters believes the franchise could pair their father-son duo with an 18-year Klutch Sports signee after the 2025-26 season ends.

“The most obvious landing spot for Bryce (James) is his father and brother’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers,” Peters wrote Wednesday.

“The Lakers took Bronny (James) in the second round a year ago and were seemingly adamant about getting him in that spot. Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul reportedly told teams that if they selected Bronny, he would go play in Australia.”

“It’s hard to say whether Los Angeles would once again be that committed to drafting one of LeBron’s sons, but if Bryce is available when it’s the Lakers’ turn to draft, it seems unlikely they would pass on him.”

“There was naturally some criticism after the Lakers drafted Bronny last year, but the move worked out well. While Bronny didn’t see the court much, he got to experience all that comes with being an NBA player while getting his reps in the G League. Assuming the younger Bryce is a similar prospect, joining the Lakers and splitting time in the NBA and G League could be the right call.”

James, who signed an NIL deal with Klutch Sports in 2022, committed to the Arizona Wildcats after spending his prep career with Sierra Canyon and Notre Dame High School.

The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native was only a three-star recruit, but to many, he possesses a higher ceiling than Bronny.

James is a methodical 6-foot-6 forward who values simplicity over flash, enabling him to get to his spots precisely and score without exerting excessive energy.

If James performs well during his freshman season at Arizona and declares for the 2026 NBA draft, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for the Lakers to consider selecting him in the first or second round.

With LeBron and Bronny becoming the first NBA father-son duo to share the floor during the franchise’s season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, adding the youngest James to the equation next year and making further history would make for an even more cinematic experience.
