The Los Angeles Lakers understand that if they want to win a championship over the next few years, it’ll require them to go all in around LeBron James and Luka Doncic. James, who is starting to exhibit some different signs, could potentially request a trade if things don’t go as planned over the next few weeks to months. It still remains uncertain what he plans to do, but the comments made by Rich Paul weren’t exactly ideal.
Searching for a way for the Lakers to improve, CBS Sports recently linked them to Damian Lillard, who the Milwaukee Bucks recently waived.
Lillard could sign for a cheap deal as he rehabs from his Achilles injury, and with the Bucks still paying him, he could be interested in playing for a storied franchise like the Lakers.
“Three teams have emerged as potential leading spots for Lillard, including the Los Angeles Lakers, who have intentions of appeasing LeBron James’ demands of wanting to compete for a championship to remain with the franchise moving forward after exercising his player option,” CBS wrote.
Now, while this could make some sense in the long term, given Lillard won’t play for at least a few months next season, with some expecting him to be out for much of the year, it’s tough to say that this would exactly be perfect for James.

The addition might entice James, but unless he plans to play for another year or two, beyond this, it likely isn’t the move he’s looking for.
For the Lakers, however, they have to do what’s best for the roster. If they believe adding the former Bucks star would be that, they should do it.
