Lakers could surprisingly trade LeBron James to Magic for this package

Would LeBron James exercise his no trade clause if he was dealt to an Eastern Conference contender?

It’s an interesting question. The west playoffs are going to be a blood bath, and James might perk up at an easier path to the Finals, something he’d probably experience were he to join the Orlando Magic.

With LeBron reportedly open to being traded, Orlando could throw a package of former Laker Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Jonathan Isaac, and three first-rounders at LA and see what GM Rob Pelinka has to say.

From a basketball standpoint, it wouldn’t be a bad trade for Orlando. Caldwell-Pope and Isaac would be winning additions on the wing (especially in the event of a LeBron departure), and three first-round picks (2027, 2029, 2031) would do much to improve the health of LA’s post-James future.

From LeBron’s perspective, joining the young, talented, and yes — contending Magic might provide exactly the kind of jolt he needs to finish his career with a bang.

If Orlando was able to add LeBron to their core of Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs, there’s no reason they couldn’t compete with the Cleveland Cavaliers or Boston Celtics in a seven-game series.

Plus, depending on the playoff draw, Orlando might only have to face one of those teams en route to the Finals.
