Manchester United are planning a major squad rebuild this summer after completing deals for Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo to revitalise their attacking options.
The Red Devils are now focusing on bringing midfield reinforcements as they are desperately shorthanded in the middle of the park ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Despite the club putting together big shortlist of available midfielders, Valencia star Javier Guerra has been one of their top priorities in this position, on the back of a strong season in La Liga.
The Spain U21 star has been linked with a move away from the Estadio Mestalla in the coming weeks and United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of the 22-year-old.
According to Marca, Guerra has rejected Valencia’s approaches over a contract renewal, which could open the door for United.
However, United are not unopposed in their interest on Guerra, with Serie A giants AC Milan also linked to the Spaniard.

According to selected reports in Spain, Guerra has reached verbal agreement with United, and now the two clubs must now finalise a transfer fee.
Why Man United chasing Javi Guerra?
With Cunha and Mbeumo both secured, Amorim is happy with his refreshed attack, but concerns over Casemiro’s longevity, a new face in the engine room is important.
At 22, Guerra has been impressive for Valencia and also for the Spain U21 team at the U21 Euros last month in Slovakia.
He has all the traits to be a long-term replacement for Casemiro at Old Trafford, and given his contract situation, he would reportedly cost £34.6m [$46.5m].
Guerra is a box-to-box midfielder known for his ball progression, work ethic and combativeness.
The youngster has been compared to Sergio Busquets and Javi Martinez for his passing range and ball-carrying abilities in midfield.
He featured in 38 matches for Valencia last season across all competitions, registering three goals and as many assists.
As per Fbref, he averaged 1.74 progressive passes, 1.03 successful take-ons with 2.93 progressive passes received per 90 minutes in 2024/25.
