The Arizona Cardinals have announced some roster moves ahead of the Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts and one of them could be a bad sign for quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray was added to the injury report this week with a foot issue and was absent from practice over the first two days of the week before he closed out the week as limited on Friday and earned a questionable tag.
While that leaves the door open for Murray to play, a roster move the Cardinals made on Saturday suggests he might not suit up. Here’s the latest on that.
Kyler Murray injury update
Nothing has changed with Murray’s status, but the Cardinals did sign quarterback Kedon Slovis from the practice squad to the active roster, which suggests Murray is, at the very least, in danger of not playing.
If Murray can’t go, veteran signal-caller Jacoby Brissett would get the nod, with Slovis backing him up.
Brissett has entered two games this season but has only thrown one pass, which came last week when Murray briefly exited with his injury before returning.
Over the course of his 10-year career, Brissett has tallied a 19-34 record as a starter.
Brissett is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL, but there’s no doubt he will still present a downgrade for Arizona’s offense, which is bad news for a game against a Colts team scoring the second-most points per game in the league (32.6).
