The New York Knicks have been given a golden opportunity to dominate the Eastern Conference.
A duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns should be one of the best in the league, but hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations thus far.
In the team’s 2-2 start, there have been some question marks surrounding New York.
The most noticeable is Towns’ situation with his quad injury.
He was diagnosed with a grade two quad strain, which has made him questionable for each game so far this season.
For a player his size who deals with that big of a workload, panic may be setting in the Knicks’ roster and their fans.
Through just four games into the early 2026 season, Towns has averaged 17 points per game along with 13.5 rebounds per game.
Towns has always been an elite scorer, and at this pace, he will set a career low in points per game.
As one of the greatest stretch-bigs of all-time, Towns has shot 52 percent from the field in his career and an even 40 percent from three.
This season is different.
Although it is a small sample size, he is down to 35 percent from the field and 33 percent from three, a drastic decrease from the rest of his career.
The East couldn’t be any more up for grabs.
However, if the Knicks are smart, they will focus more on letting him recover from his injury than on capturing the number one seed.
