Knicks sign 6-foot-9 champion forward to support Karl-Anthony Towns

The New York Knicks have made a flurry of free agent signings heading into training camp to help their star center, Karl-Anthony Towns, feel confident about the organization’s title chances.

While nothing is set in stone until the 2025-26 season officially begins in October, a 6-foot-9 forward with championship experience will compete for a roster spot in New York.

“The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed Mohamed Diawara to an Exhibit 10 contract,” the organization announced Tuesday.

“Diawara, 20 years old (6-foot-10, 228 pounds), was selected by the New York Knicks with the 51st pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Diawara most recently appeared with the 2025 Knicks Summer League team in Las Vegas, where he posted 7.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals over 22.3 minutes in four games.”

“The Paris, France-native previously played with Paris Basketball and Poitiers Basket 86 in the second division of the French League before joining Cholet Basket. He won the EuroCup championship with Paris Basketball during the 2023-24 season.”

Diawara is hoping to begin his NBA career with a bang. The 20-year-old has enjoyed plenty of success overseas, but has a ways to go before he’s an established contributor in the big leagues.

Still, it helps that Diawara has won a title at the professional level and gained valuable reps with the Knicks during the Summer League.

The 2025 second-round pick should be prepared to play his best basketball while battling for a standard or two-way contract.
