After Malik Beasley was cleared as a target in gambling investigations, he is now one step closer to signing with an NBA team for the upcoming 2025-26 season. According to CBS Sports, the New York Knicks are among the few teams monitoring his situation. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves have been cited as other teams “keeping tabs” on the veteran guard.
Although the Knicks parted ways with Precious Achiuwa, the team has made great offseason additions like Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson. While these players will most likely add depth from the bench, Beasley would be capable of starting games for the Knicks. Last season for the Pistons, Beasley averaged 16.3 points off the bench en route to a second place finish in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Beasley’s sharpshooting prowess would make him a valuable pickup for New York. On 9.3 3-point attempts per game last season, Beasley shot 41.6%, the highest total of his career. This ranked him 19th in three point percentage, trailing few players who attempted threes at such a high volume.
Aiding Jalen Brunson’s exceptional isolation scoring, Beasley would be a great catch and shoot option for the Knicks in the corners. Contrasting the play style of current Knicks shooting guard Josh Hart, Beasley would provide new head coach Mike Brown with plenty of options.
With the Knicks currently labeled by many as one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference, the acquisition of Beasley would make them all the more threatening.
