The New York Knicks have been relatively quiet this offseason, but they might have one more big move this summer.
Over the past couple of months, not much has changed to the roster in New York. With the team coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, there hasn’t been much worth changing from the Knicks’ perspective, especially after fixing their biggest presumed problem by hiring Mike Brown.
Still, New York has tried to give its new coach a better bench than Tom Thibodeau ever had to work with. Signing Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele this offseason, the Knicks have firmly placed themselves among the East’s best.
One more notable signing?
While the Knicks have basically everything figured out ahead of next season, they could still make a swing for another guard in free agency. Most notably, the Knicks could pursue Malcolm Brogdon, as Jake Fischer recently reported that Brogdon is on New York’s radar.
While Brogdon was a bit of a forgotten player over the past couple of years in Portland in Washington, he has plenty of experience contributing to a contender, most recently winning Sixth Man of the Year for the Boston Celtics in 2023.
Although Brogdon has never made it to the NBA Finals, his multiple trips to the Eastern Conference Finals could be valuable for the Knicks as they have an entire team looking to overcome that stage. There’s no guarantee that Brogdon would be interested in New York or that his fit with the Knicks would be perfect, but it’s easy to imagine a smart player like him fitting in just fine on this squad.
