The New York Knicks have plenty of problems, but one of them could be fixed with a simple move.
Over the past few years, the Knicks have had one of their most successful stretches in recent memory. After Tom Thibodeau led the team to four playoff appearances in five years, the Knicks fired him this offseason.
With Thibodeau out of the picture, the team is still searching for its next coach after a bizarre opening round of the coaching search. While the Knicks are still looking for their next coach, they will soon be looking to make some moves to their roster.
One of the Knicks’ potential moves could be to add a cheap 3-and-D wing. While Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby have held down the forward spots, finding a perfect partner for Jalen Brunson in the backcourt has been a struggle.
However, that could all change if the Knicks take the advice of Empire Sports Media’s Dylan Backer and sign Gary Trent Jr. Trent has spent most of his career across stints in Portland and Toronto, but had a successful one-year run with the Milwaukee Bucks last season.
With the Bucks, Trent shot 41.6% from three on nearly six attempts per game. While his performance last season could help him get a bigger deal in free agency, there is still a chance the Knicks could steal him away for another minimum deal.

If his price tag makes sense, the Knicks should absolutely pursue a player of Trent’s caliber. While he might not necessarily be the piece that gets New York over the top, it can’t possibly hurt to add some quality depth next season.
