The New York Knicks have a chance to make one last splash before the summer ends.
This offseason has been a wild one for the Knicks. While the team has chosen to keep its core in place after making the Eastern Conference Finals, New York has changed head coaches and been involved in almost every big rumor.
Although the Knicks didn’t make any big deals for Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo, they still made some solid deals in free agency. While Mike Brown will have some nice new players to work with in Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson, there could be one final piece to the puzzle for the Knicks.
Time to add a former All-Star?
The Knicks have never been afraid to go after big names in the past, but their ability to land those stars has been underwhelming. Considering the Knicks have been one of the league’s least successful franchises in recent history, that makes sense.
However, with the team ready to compete for a championship next season as one of the favorites to come out of the East, that might finally be changing. In a recent story from Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, he predicted that the Knicks would be the team to win the Ben Simmons sweepstakes.
The former No. 1 overall pick and All-Defensive standout is still on the market, and Pincus predicts that New York will secure his services on a minimum deal. While there are plenty of risks that come with adding Simmons, it will be worth the risk for the Knicks if he can show some flashes of his old self.
