As if there wasn’t already enough star power at Madison Square Garden every night, the New York Knicks have been linked to an NBA player currently dating rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion.
The Knicks aren’t in a position to make a blockbuster trade — nor do they need to — but a marginal deal to improve the edges of the rotation could go a long way for Tom Thibodeau’s ball club, especially if New York’s able to snag an experienced veteran.
That’s just what Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has in mind for the Knicks.
On Monday, Swartz proposed that New York send oft-injured backup center Mitchell Robinson to the Chicago Bulls for a package of Chris Duarte, Jevon Carter, Torrey Craig, and a 2025 second-rounder.
“The Knicks should use the salary of the injured Robinson to try to collect some additional depth before head coach Tom Thibodeau runs his starters into the ground,” Swartz said.
“Craig is a 6’7″ forward who’s making 42.9 percent of his threes for the Bulls this season. Carter is a solid defender, and Duarte, 27, also shoots 42.9 percent from deep.”
“After giving up a motherload of picks for Mikal Bridges, the Knicks at least get one second-rounder back for Robinson.”
Craig, 34, is a rugged wing who could fit perfectly into New York’s defensive scheme.
He also happens to be dating Megan Thee Stallion, a fact which would no doubt excite a segment of Knicks fans if this trade were to manifest.
Should New York call up Chicago about a deal, or are the Knicks better off giving Robinson a few more months to get his body right and gear up for a playoff run?
