Knicks’ head coach Mike Brown applauds team’s effort on offensive glass

The New York Knicks are now 2-0 after taking down the Boston Celtics 105-95, but it hasn’t come in the way many would probably expect.

After hiring Mike Brown to be their next head coach, the Knicks are projected to have one of the best offenses in the NBA. So far, that hasn’t materialized, as they shot 43 percent from the field in their win over the Cavaliers, and just 39 percent in their win over Boston. However, the Knicks have dominated the offensive rebound battle, winning it 9-4 over Cleveland, and 21-8 over the Celtics.

Brown talked about the importance of crashing the offensive glass leading to the team’s success.

“We haven’t shot the ball well quite yet… but the 21 offensive rebounds. The effort on the glass is helping us generate wins while we’re still trying, at times, to find the right way to play offensively,” Brown said after the win against the Celtics.

Even more impressively, the Knicks are dominating the offensive glass despite not having Mitchell Robinson — one of the league’s best offensive rebounders — over the first two games. Once he starts to suit up for the Knicks this season, they’ll become an even more dominant team on the glass.

The Knicks will look to make it 3-0 on the season when they travel to Miami for a matchup with the Heat on Sunday.
