Knicks have ‘internal support’ for intriguing Josh Hart decision

Mike Brown and the New York Knicks will face some difficult roster decisions over the next few weeks to months, as questions linger about the Knicks’ starting five.

The Knicks could opt to go with Josh Hart filling the fifth spot or allow Mitchell Robinson to start full-time. There’s also the possibility that Guerschon Yabusele could be a potential fit in a starting five as well.

However, according to a recent report from Ian Begley of SNY, there’s reportedly internal interest in starting Karl-Anthony Towns and Robinson together. Towns and Robinson are completely different players, as Towns is more of the modern big man, while Robinson is a tough, old-school big who can rebound with the best of them and block shots.

“It’s worth noting that, during the free-agency process, the Knicks valued Yabusele’s versatility off the bench behind a starting lineup featuring Towns and Robinson. Yabusele was signed before Brown was hired, and, obviously, the new head coach will ultimately decide the starting lineup/rotation for New York. But the fact that the Knicks factored in Yabusele’s role behind a starting lineup featuring Towns and Robinson tells you that there is some internal support for that starting five,” Begley wrote.

It’s possible that the Knicks could go with this starting five, including Towns and Robinson, but it might not be perfect.

While Robinson doesn’t exactly space the floor, with the other shooters the Knicks would have on the court, they’d have an opportunity to attack teams in multiple ways.

This would also help Towns defensively, the biggest reason why they should consider it.
