The New York Knicks have made several new additions in the last week as they continue to bolster their depth, and they continue to look into more possible additions ahead of training camp.
Per SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks brought in center Thomas Bryant for a workout, and has been impressive. Bryant most recently played for the Indiana Pacers, where he had a prominent role in eliminating the Knicks. In the decisive Game 6, Bryant scored 11 points, and knocked down three three-pointers to help put the Knicks away for good.
Bryant has also played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, and the Denver Nuggets in his eight-year career so far. He’s averaging 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in his career, and averaged 6.9 points and 3.9 rebounds last season in 56 games with the Pacers (eight starts).
Bryant could serve as a solid depth option
The Knicks’ current center rotation included Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson, and Ariel Hukporti, so bringing in Bryant as a depth piece could be a solid addition given Robinson’s injury concerns, and the uncertainty surrounding Hukporti given his lack of experience.
Regardless, the Knicks still enter next season as one of the deepest teams in the NBA following the additions of Jordan Clarkson, Landry Shamet, Guerschon Yabusele, and Malcolm Brogdon. After reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the Knicks are looking to finish the job in 2026, and earn their first championship title since 1973.
