The Dallas Mavericks made one of the most infamous trades in NBA history last season when they dealt franchise icon Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.
While many feel as though the trade wasn’t the right move to make, players on the Mavericks have sung high praise for Davis.
Klay Thompson sings high praise for his Dallas teammate
Per Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints, Klay Thompson recently spoke very highly of his Mavericks teammate. Calling Davis the “best power forward” of this generation.
“AD, when he’s healthy, he is the best power forward, maybe of my generation,” Thompson said. “I think we personally have the best frontcourt in the NBA when we’re healthy. We have so much depth… And then getting a guy like D-Lo and having guard depth, I’m just really excited.”
Thompson’s statement regarding Davis might not be hyperbole. In his career, Davis is a 10-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA, five-time All-Defense, a three-time block champion, and an NBA champion with the Lakers in 2020. That resume stacks up with some of the very best to ever play the game, and puts Davis on an easy track to make the Hall of Fame when it’s all said and done.
Last season, after arriving in Dallas, Davis only appeared in nine games due to injury. He averaged 20.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per in that span. He and the Mavericks enter next season looking to contend for the Western Conference crown, and will have a better chance to do so if Davis is at the top of his game, and remains healthy.
