On paper, Chelsea have one of the biggest squads in the Premier League, and it looks like the Blues are going to need every ounce of that depth in the upcoming season.
Enzo Maresca’s team was dealt a serious blow yesterday when it was revealed that Levi Colwill had suffered an ACL injury and could face up to nine months out.
Now, the Italian manager has been dealt another blow as the full extent of a player’s existing injury has been revealed.
Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashille had picked up an injury in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup last month and was spotted on crutches after the game.
While Chelsea fans would have been hoping that the Frenchman would recover from his injury by the start of the season, the full extent of his injury has only been revealed now.

Benoit Badiashile targets injury return in September
According to Football. London, Badiashile is set to return to action at the beginning of September.
It has been revealed that the 24-year-old defender is currently doing individual work at Cobham away from the main squad.
On a positive note, the report also states that Badiashille is ahead of schedule for his return and is targeting a comeback in early September.
Even though the player is set to miss the opening weeks of the season, his return ahead of schedule is a massive boost for Chelsea, as he is the most natural replacement for Levi Colwill.
On his return to the team, Badiashille has the opportunity to make a spot in the starting lineup his own, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can grab the opportunity with both hands.
