The Phoenix Suns are searching for yet another head coach after just one season with Mike Budenholzer at the helm. On top of that, trade questions have circulated regarding Bradley Beal, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant.
Right now, it doesn’t look like Booker is going to be available at all, which aligns with the Suns mentality after the season came to an end.
As for Durant, that’s a different situation, and the veteran forward saw his name tossed around at the most recent NBA trade deadline, although nothing materialized.
On Wednesday, NBA insider Brian Windhorst spoke on the Durant trade front and dropped a specific prediction:
“Kevin Durant, I’m like 98% sure he’s not gonna be a Sun next year, how it works out though I’m about 1% sure. There’s gonna be a number of teams interested, but some of it is gonna depend on whether they see KD as a player they keep on a 1-year contract or if they want to give him a contract extension, which I think he’s going to want,” Windhorst said during an episode of NBA Today.
So, Windhorst is “98%” sure Durant will not be in Phoenix, although there is no telling where he ends up. The Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors were rumored teams at the deadline before Golden State acquired Jimmy Butler from Miami.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr even admitted Durant was a target before they landed Butler.
Still, Windhorst saying Durant is 98% out of Phoenix is something, and it could make for a very interesting offseason.
