KaVontae Turpin arrest: Prolific Cowboys returner, wide receiver charged with two misdemeanors

Dallas wide receiver/kick returner KaVontae Turpin was arrested on Saturday, July 5th in Allen, Texas. He was charged with two misdemeanors.

The Cowboys’ 2025 offseason had been fairly quiet. Many thought Dallas underwhelmed in free agency, once again choosing not to make a splash signing for the backfield, instead bringing in former Broncos running back Javonte Williams and former Eagles/Panthers RB Miles Sanders.

The rest of the offensive moves kept that trend. The Cowboys only made two other position player moves for the offense. Dallas signed Parris Campbell to a one-year deal and brought back kick returner extraordinaire Turpin on a three-year contract. He was used sparingly in the offense, but was a Pro Bowler thanks to his returning punts and kickoffs.

Turpin only caught 31 passes last season, but was the only player in the league with both a punt return and a kick return touchdown. While his arrest likely won’t result in a lengthy suspension, the versatile Cowboys will likely miss some time in the upcoming 2025 regular season.
