History will be made when Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano compete in a trilogy at Madison Square Garden on July 11. The event, featuring an all-women’s fight card, is available to stream on Netflix.
Taylor (24-1) and Serrano (47-3-1) competed in the 2022 Fight of the Year for undisputed lightweight gold. The former won a close fight to retain.
Moving to super lightweight, Taylor defended the belts in November against Serrano. In a result deemed controversial following a few Taylor headbutts, the Irish fighter once again beat the Puerto Rican.
MORE: The case for two vs. three-minute rounds in women’s boxing
Serrano, a seven-division champion, has competed in three-minute rounds between both fights, attempting to further change the game in women’s boxing. The unified featherweight champion looks to finally beat Taylor and make a statement on fight night.
A 2012 Olympic gold medalist, Taylor has beaten a who’s who of stars over the years. She may be closer to retirement in this fight, but she is focused on making history once again in MSG.
The Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 undercard features a Guinness World Record number of title fights, as well as a rare three-minute round women’s boxing bout.
