Karl-Anthony Towns injury update: Latest news on Knicks star following possible hand injury vs. Celtics

In Year 1 with Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks are just two wins away from a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.

New York swung a huge deal with Minnesota before the 2024-25 season for the star power forward, who has added a dominant scoring presence alongside Jalen Brunson. In the playoffs, Towns’ impact has been critical, helping the Knicks win a pair of road games in Boston.

However, in Game 3 against the Celtics on Saturday, Towns indicated that he’s dealing with a hand injury that he wants to continue playing through.

Karl-Anthony Towns injury update

There’s no official play when Towns injured his left hand on Saturday, but it may have happened during a tangle-up with Luke Kornet. After grabbing a rebound, Towns grabbed at his hand.

Immediately after, cameras caught him mouthing “I broke it” while pointing at his left hand.

After the game, a 115-93 loss for the Knicks, Towns spoke about the injury, although he didn’t spare many more details.

“It is what it is,” Towns said. “I just want to do whatever I can to be out there.”

He declined to specify whether or not he got an X-ray on the hand.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau was asked about Towns’ injury, but he reflected the same sentiment that the big man will play through it.

“It’s the playoffs and people are gonna get hit,” Thibodeau said. “You’ve got to play through things. That’s why you do it the entire season.”

Game 4 of Knicks vs. Celtics is scheduled for Monday night. Based on Towns and Thibodeau’s comments, the star center is expected to continue playing through any pain in his left hand as the playoff series continues.
