Karl-Anthony Towns inducted into Kentucky basketball Hall of Fame

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns has added another accolade to his trophy case. On Saturday, the Knicks’ big man was inducted into the University of Kentucky athletics Hall of Fame, per the X account of Kentucky’s men’s basketball team.

Towns only spent one season with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2014-15. However, he was spectacular, averaging 10.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as a freshman, leading Kentucky to a 38-1 record. He took home All-American honors, and All-SEC honors for his efforts.

Fast forward to the 2015 NBA Draft, and Towns was selected first-overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he spent the first nine seasons of his NBA career before being traded to the Knicks before last season. Towns has made five All-Star teams, and been selected All-NBA three times in his NBA career. He averaged 24.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range in his first season with the Knicks, he was part of a trade that sent fan favorite Knicks Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to Minnesota.

This upcoming season, Towns will look to add to his legacy as he and the Knicks enter as title contenders in the Eastern Conference. Towns was instrumental in the team’s run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, and will look to have a similar impact in 2026 as the Knicks look to secure their first title since 1973.
