The Green Bay Packers are feeling optimistic heading into the upcoming season—especially when they look at the offensive side of the ball and see a group of young, talented weapons. Quarterback Jordan Love, now entering his third year as a starter, is ready to lead the Packers to a division title.
One of those weapons is wide receiver Matthew Golden, who is set to be with the team for at least the next four years. Golden has impressed the entire organization throughout offseason workouts and team practices. The former Texas standout is looking to make an immediate impact in Green Bay, and his quarterback is focused on strengthening their growing connection.
“Just the start we’ve had … he looks like a stud, looks like a very polished receiver,” Love said.
Golden has performed so well this offseason that the Packers are reportedly considering trading one of their veteran wide receivers, potentially paving the way for Golden to become one of the team’s top targets.
“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. “It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development.”
While Love has faced criticism for not yet living up to his contract, he’s setting ambitious goals for the 2025 season.

“You talk about Super Bowl, that’s the goal for us … I’m definitely trying to be that guy to be able to take this team and lead them to that. When you talk about Aaron and what he did in his third year, I never try and compare because that’s so hard to do,” Love said.
A Super Bowl title would be Green Bay’s first since 2011—and for Love, it would be a powerful way to silence the doubters. The Packers certainly have the talent, but their success may come down to whether they can stay healthy throughout the season.
