Having been away from the game for 2 seasons, no one knows what to expect from Blackhawks legend Jonathan Toews as he returns to the NHL with his hometown Winnipeg Jets this upcoming year.
Jonathan Toews is one of the most decorated players in the modern game of hockey, having won almost everything there is to win at the highest level of competition. Toews does not have anything else to prove, but he wants to go out on his own terms.
Toews recently spoke in an interview with TSN about what his recovery process from Long Covid has been like as he gears up for his 25-26 NHL return.
Toews comments on recovery
Toews underwent a 5 week spiritual and healing journey in India this past year in an effort to pursue alternative medicine that could help him in his fight to recover from Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. The efforts were successful as Toews has returned back to his playing weight and shape.
With that said the road to recovery has not been easy for Toews. He was quoted in the discussion, stating the time spent healing in India was “not a comfortable process.” Many would have given up in the 37 year old’s position, but quit is not a word in the Captain Serious dictionary.
The NHL world is excited to watch Toews return to action this season. Jonathan has been on the ice in Winnipeg approaching training camp, shaking off the rust. He will hope to help his Jets team win a Stanley Cup for the first time in their franchise history.
