Johnny Fisher looks to prove a win against Dave Allen last December wasn’t a fluke when the two face off on May 17. The fight in the Copper Box Arena airs on DAZN.
Fisher (13-0) survived a knockdown when they clashed, beating Allen (23-7-2) via split decision. Per CompuBox, Fisher landed 125 of 395 shots (31.6%), while Allen, who took over the second half of the fight, landed 135 of 303 shots (44.6%). The result was deemed a robbery.
It was Fisher’s biggest win since dismantling Alen Babic in the Copper Box Arena. “The Romford Bull” returns to the venue and is ready to prove doubters wrong.
“I’m well conditioned, I’ve been out there training and replenishing. Last time, if I’m honest, I wasn’t well conditioned because of the work I was doing ahead of the cancelled shows,” Fisher said.
“Now I’ve had a replenished camp, I’ve trained diligently, and I can try and say I will do this and that, you’ve seen me box, I really only know how to have a tear-up, I’m in a better position to do that and I’m just going to absolutely let me hands go.”
A win would have secured Allen an opportunity to fight for local gold. The Doncaster-born fighter is 2-2 in his last four fights and is keen on changing his luck. “White Rhino'” will be wary of Fisher’s skills and look to put on a show in London.
“I think I probably win on points which is very boring isn’t it! We’ll see how he approaches it; I would have won the first one in this shape, but he’ll be better now,” Allen said. “I’m fitter and sharper, but he’ll be better for the experience, so I’ll do what I always do – I’ll come out in the first round and throw three punches, I’ll throw six in round two, seven in round three, four in round four then we’ll go to work and throw 12 punches a round.
“We know that if I hit him, I can hurt him, but he’s a tough fella, a good fighter, he’ll be improved. I’m pretty confident I can do the job.”
On the Johnny Fisher vs. Dave Allen 2 undercard, local gold is on the line while local prospects look to impress.
