John Terry heaps praise on Chelsea midfielder ahead of Conference League final

Chelsea are all set to take on Real Betis in the final of the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday night (May 28).

And former Chelsea skipper John Terry is expecting midfielder Moises Caicedo to continue his good form in the club’s last game of the season.

Ahead of the big game against Betis, the retired defender has hailed Caicedo as a “superb” player and has even claimed that he would take 11 of him in his side.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Terry said: “Caicedo’s been excellent this year for me. I think in the first season, first few months, wasn’t the player that we saw at Brighton.”

“But I think naturally over time when you arrive at another big club, sometimes you’re probably too keen to impress and [it] didn’t go well, picked up a couple of little niggles, but I’ve seen him this year and he’s been absolutely superb.”

The Chelsea legend later went on to add: “As a Chelsea fan now, which I am, I go to the game and go, ‘I’d take 11 of you week in, week out!’ His attitude and the way he defends is first class.”

Caicedo was crucial to Chelsea securing qualification for the Champions League. The 23-year-old played in all 38 of the Blues’ Premier League fixtures as they went on to finish fourth in the table.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Caicedo’s form has attracted interest from the likes of Al-Nassr, who have been linked with a move for him. However, given his importance to the team, it would be surprising if Chelsea entertains any offers for the Ecuadorian midfielder.

Interestingly, Terry had snubbed Caicedo when asked to name his three best Chelsea players of the season in February this year. He picked Caicedo’s teammates Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto instead.
