The Warriors lost their massive trade deadline acquisition for at least one game.
Late in the first quarter of Wednesday’s playoff contest against the Rockets, Jimmy Butler was undercut by Amen Thompson as he jumped for a rebound and took a nasty fall. He landed on his tailbone and was writhing on the floor.
The guard eventually got to his feet, but he limped to the locker room in obvious pain. He was ruled out for the rest of Game 2 shortly after exiting.

Butler will be getting an MRI on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury. Both Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga have dealt with pelvic contusions recently, with Kuminga missing one game and Curry missing two.
MRI expected tomorrow for Jimmy Butler, per source. Warriors have dealt with a couple of these pelvic contusions recently after similar falls from Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga. Curry missed two games. Kuminga missed one. Then it became a pain management issue.

Warriors record with Jimmy Butler
Since acquiring Butler at the trade deadline this year, the Warriors have gone 23-7, including a playoff win over the Rockets on Sunday.
Before his arrival, Golden State struggled when its best players were not on the floor, getting outscored by 90 points when Stephen Curry sat and by 98 when Draymond was out. Those margins have improved significantly with Butler in the fold.
Butler played 42 minutes in Game 1, and the Warriors can ill-afford to have him miss significant time if they hope to make a deep playoff run.
